  	MANSFIELD: BABE HIGNITE, 94, passed away Sunday evening, October 9, 2011 at his home. He was born February 12, 1917 in Wolfe County, Kentucky to Frank and Hattie (Raye) Hignite. Babe was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army. He possessed a strong work ethic and retired from DSL Corporation where he worked as a crane operator. Babe was an avid coon hunter and enjoyed gardening and dog trials. He was remembered by all for his honesty and integrity. Babe is survived by two sons, Dave A. (Cherie) Hignite and Wendell R. Hignite, all of Mansfield; daughter, Olivia Farnswalt of High Spire, Pennsylvania; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Johnson of Carter County, Kentucky; a brother, Garrett Hignite of Ashland, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lena Hignite; daughter, Carol; and his parents. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road with Rev. George Reece officiating. Friends and family may visit beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park with the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad presenting military honors.
