John L. Baird, 84, Dies in Corbin
John L. Baird, 84 years of age, died at his home Thursday after a short illness. He is a former school teacher and in later life was a prominent merchant at Cane Creek, Ky., but at the time of his death was retired.
He is survived by wife, five sons, U.S. Baird of Fort Collins, Colorado; W.R. Baird, of Livingston, Montana; J.C. Baird, of London, Ky.; C.C. Baird of Benham, Ky.; F.F. Baird, of Great Lakes, Ill. Three daughters, Mrs. J.J. Taylor, of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. J.T. Watkins, of Corbin, Ky.; and Mrs. Herbert Brummett, of Corbin; two step-children Mrs. T.A. Beckner, of Cane Creek, and Mrs. Wilson Stewart, of Corbin.
The funeral was held at the home Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joe Fairchild and Rev. L.O. Parman officiating.
The honorary pallbearers were M.L. Denham, Pete Smith, Obie Sams, George Walden, Henry Bowman, and Lacy Parness.
The active pallbearers were Everett Tuttle, Finley Calder, Nelson Rose, Herbert Steely, Dave Byrley, and Bruce Calder.
