  	Mrs. Mary L. Powell, 88, of White Hall died early Thursday morning, June 13, 2002, at the White Hall Multicare Center. She was born Aug. 24, 1913, in White Hall, the daughter of Tom C. and Sarah Catherine (Tatman) Ridings. She married Earl E. Powell Aug. 28, 1945, and he died April 12, 1974. She is survived by two brothers, John Ridings of White Hall and Jack Ridings of Meredosia and a sister, Elsie Geers of Carrollton. Preceding her in death were seven brothers, Charles Ridings, Jesse Ridings, Edgar Ridings, Claude Ridings, Robert Ridings, Howard Ridings and Ward Ridings; and four sisters, Lendra Shade, Nell Nash, Maude Bateman and Lucy Ridings. Mrs. Powell and her husband were cottage parents at the Soldiers and Sailors Children's Home in Normal for many years. In addition, she worked at the White Hall Golf Club for many years. Friends called from 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall, until funeral services at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rex Brand officiating. Organist was Jean Coates. Casketbearers were Jim Ridings, Bob Ridings, Jim Bateman, Al Bateman, David Ridings and Buell Powell. Honorary bearers were James L. Guis and Dick Ridings. Burial was at the White Hall Cemetery.
