  	KINGSPORT - Edith K. Hawkins, 82, of 417 Hobart St., Indian Springs community, passed away early Tuesday (April 20, 2004) at her residence. She was born in Roda, Va., and had been a resident of the Kingsport area since 1947. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church and retired from Kings Department Store. Prior to her retirement she also worked at S.H. Kress in downtown Kingsport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton Hawkins, Oct. 20, 2003; her parents, E.K. and Mattie Mae Newman; and one brother, Paul Newman. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Larry Hopkins of Omaha, Nebr., and Anita and Glenn Jennings of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; one son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Shirley Hawkins of Kingsport; two brothers, Carl Newman of Gate City, Va., and E.K. Newman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one sister, Christina Pennington of California; four grandsons, Richard Crask, Robert Goddard, Joseph Goddard and Chett Hopkins; two granddaughters, Eyde Aarhus and Katie Jennings; two great-grandsons, Connor Hopkins and Charles Ross Goddard; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.
