June 5, 1947 NICIE HALE NEWMAN CLAIMED IN DEATH Mrs. Nicie Hale Newman, 62 years old died at 10:45 o'clock last Saturday morning at Lexington following a year's illness. Her body was removed to her home at Blackwater and funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at the Pilgrims Rest cemetery with the Rev. L.A. Jollay officiating. Interment followed at Pilgrims Rest by the House Funeral Home. Mrs. Newman was the daughter of the late F.J. and Lucinda Sasser Hale. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Carrington, Spartansburg, SC; and one son, Clarence Newman, whose present address is unknown; one sister Mrs. Nannie Mae Sasser, Cane Creek and three brothers, Victor Hale, Cane Creek, H.S. Hale, Marydell and Bruce Hale, London.
