  	Powell Valley News. "Syble Hale Ridings, Vincennes, Ind. VINCENNES, Ind. - Syble Hale Ridings died peacefully on Friday (Nov. 1, 2002) at her daughter's home in Vincennes, Ind., after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Ridings was born Feb. 9, 1923 in St. Charles, Va. She was the daughter of Maud Coffman Hale Sprinkle and Evan Hale. She attended elementary school in Tifton, Ohio, and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1942. Mrs. Ridings was employed at the St. Charles Neighborhood Action Center for several years before retiring from Lee County Community Hospital. She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Pennington Gap, Va. She was married to the late Claude Ridings of St. Charles, and had four children; Philip Ridings of Indianapolis, Ind., Phyllis Carling of Vincennes, Ind., Betty Dizney of Dryden, Va., and Ray Ridings of Roanoke, Va. Two brothers, Evan and Ravle Hale, preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Vida Pope of Orangeburg, S.C.; a half sister, Mattie Lou England of Gas City, Ind.; and a half brother, Ed Sprinkle of Marion, Ind. She had six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be this evening and all day Monday at the home of Mike and Betty Dizney in Dryden, Va. Services will be conducted by Kenneth Kehrer at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Pennington Gap, Va.
